It’s the Silverstone round of the European Drifting Championship this week and drifting supremo’s Kumakubo and Tanaka are bringing their unique brand of sideways entertainment to the UK. How will they do? although the level of UK drifting has improved I still don’t think our machinery is on a par with the Team Orange Impreza’s mainly in terms of horsepower and who’d bet against a D1 champion my moneys on Kumakubo
The 36th ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nürburgring took place at the Green Hell in Germany this weekend i’ve always been a fan of endurance racing, but the ring makes Le-mans look like a walk in the park. With a formidable reputation as usual there were numerous casualities with the Manthay Porsche emmerging as victor.

New shape STI, headlights blazing

What it must be like racing at the ring at night you could only imagine

Lexus took the unusual strategy of racing their LS-F prototype pitching at the GTR’s market perhaps?

Toyota Auris, an emmerging tuning platform a few ran this year

And a Suzuki Swift where else would you see a Swift sharing a track with a Porsche and a Vauxhall Astra Estate

Photo’s taken from the The 36th ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nürburgring offical website and are copyright of their respective owners

Racing Project Bandoh have replaced their GT300 class Toyota Celica for the Lexus IS350 for 2008

I was asked by Justin to provide a little report for 7Tune about Japfest at Castle Combe which has just gone up, i’m quite chuffed with it although the photos aren’t perfect and my writing leaves a lot to be desired.
Go check it out : http://www.7tune.com/worldwide-jdm-japfest-2008-castle-combe-uk/
7Tune has some great event coverage and features so go check it out
Followed this hardcore Toyota Corolla DX with full AE86 running gear and a 4AGE back from Japfest, such a great sound at full chat

I love this car, perfection

Barbie’s down with that , me less so give me back my car already

Manufacturers tend to play it safe with OEM wheel sizes, and too the enthusiast budget can sometimes be an issue, i’ll always strive to use the best parts or not at all because i’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for (Suzukisport products excluded).
Choosing a wheel tyre package has been frustrating, the Swift shares the 5 x 114.3 stud pattern with the EP3 type R and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, the standard Swift wheels are 6.5″ and they don’t even come close to filling the arches.
Looking at my dad’s STI it dawned on me wheels would fit perfectly on the Swift, and with a set available secondhand for around £250 they’d be a bargain for a wheel which is both forged and relatively lightweight whilst being almost exactly the width i’d want.
Just a quick mockup on the vector template I made, powdercoated black, opinions? I can see a hoard of Subaru owners lynching me for using STI products on a Suzuki.
Oh and hello to Van from JDMST

Picked this up on the JDMstyletuning website hotlapping at Sendai circuit, according to the company site it laps Tsukuba in 1 Minute and 2 seconds, looks hard. With the arrival of the latest evolution of the Impreza the GC8 still hold’s its own particulary in Time Attack.

The UK spec Impreza STI still looks too soft, but the new spec C could be the answer, the lip is a nice addition
