With Summer pretty much over Trax reallty wasen’t on my to do list, more often than not it symbolises how wrong some of the UK tuning industry is, with the same recycled trends featuring year after year. But this year wasen’t so bad, I got to catch up with some friends without worrying too much about what was going on.
With Ken Block jetting in for the launch of Dirt 2 it’d be rude not to attend Silverstone right?

I first spied this probably about ten years back at JAE, with a burgeoning Japanese car scene just getting underway this Datsun did some impressive Dyno runs, now i’d get to see the car do some 0-60 runs.
I won’t mention what the engine is, needless to say it doesn’t hail from the land of the Rising sun.

I really need to get that tow hook cover painted…. still rocking the JDM Ego plateframe Jay sent me way back!

With the launch of Colin Mcrae Dirt 2 Codemasters brought out Colin’s MK2 Escort, Colin really took this MK2 to a new level with the addition of fully independent suspension, a 2.5 litre Millington Engine and a paddle shift gearbox. Sadly with Colin’s death this amazing MK2 remains mostly a museum piece. Ironically I once scaled the concrete fence of the Test Track over the road just to catch a glimpse of Mcrae some years back.

Initially Ken was touted to jump 100ft but Silverstone wouldn’t allow it, so we we’re knocked down to a rather sedate 60ft, ish. Not one to be phased by this Ken instead took to yumping the car out of the access tunnel! I’d love to see Ken do some more rally events over here.

VIP never really took off over here but I loved this widebody Lexus with subtle arch flares.

Monster Sport are working hard to develop a base in the UK and this is their new demo car, with a liberal splattering of both Monster Sport and Suzuki sport bits I was pretty excited to see this. We just don’t do Swifts like this in the UK right now.

The carbon Suzuki Sport airboxes encloses a Monster Sport cone filter feeding a Monster Sport supercharger funelled through a custom exhaust system to the rear twin pipes.

You can protest all you like about your Chinese knockoff parts there still knockoff, nothing beats the Japanese check out how clean and OEM this supercharger install looks.

Naturally my faithful sidekick came down with his mint Suzuki Swift Sport, unusually for a Swift Rolling on some repainted Lexus IS200 alloy wheels, with both cars sharing the same stud fitment.

I loved this RX7 shod in an RE-Anemiya bodykit.

Fresh off the back of a feature in Banzai magazine. I got to check out James’s minty fresh Civic Type R. Built from a rolling shell, you can see influences and draw paralels to the US scene. It bears more than a passing resemblence to Jade’s stateside Type-R.

The interior is dominated by a full FIA spec roll cage from Custom cages and a solitary BRIDE bucket seat suggests James won’t be having any passengers. Fitted with a B18C6 engine mated to an Integra Type-R gearbox coupled with some pretty fresh looking Enkei RPF1′s.
